OTP Bank together with the public organization "Batteries, get in" implements a "green" project on the used power cells collection. Special boxes have been installed in bank branches throughout Ukraine, in the customer area, where customers and employees can leave used batteries.

Thus, OTP Bank supports the global movement aimed at protecting the environment from the toxic effects of used batteries.

Why is used batteries collection so important? After all, this is an ordinary garbage...

To date, more than 95% of all used batteries in Ukraine are thrown into landfills and pollute the soil. One battery that gets into nature without recycling can pollute 16 square meters of land with toxic substances. However, battery recycling is a relatively new practice in the world, and in the EU, for example, there is no plant that independently recycles all types of batteries. Each plant has a partnership with other enterprises, where it sends those batteries that it does not process itself.

How many used batteries can be left in the box in one visit?

Up to 50 pieces of portable batteries or accumulators.

How much does one box hold?

Up to 10 kilograms.

How long does this project last OTP Bank?

The project has been implemented in OTP Bank from the middle of 2021.

Where do you send collected batteries?

We hand over all the batteries collected in the branches to our partner - the public organization "Batteries, get in". From there, specialists send used power cells to the Recupyl plant in Poland. Part of the batteries - in particular, lithium, nickel-metal hydride batteries are sent in transit to other plants: Fenix in Great Britain and Erasteel in France.
