The history of Ukrainian money: OTP BANK became a partner of the lecture series for UCulture project
JSC "OTP BANK" within the framework of partnership with the UCulture project will support the platform team in preparing a series of lectures dedicated to the history of money: from the hryvnia of the Kyivska Rus princes to modern times, as well as figures and historical monuments from Ukrainian banknotes.
"We started the collaboration on the first day of Global Money Week, which is celebrated every year by more than 100 countries around the world. A joint project with UCulture will allow us to raise deep meanings, to look at the history of Ukrainian money in philosophical, historical, and cultural dimensions. Experts of the platform study unusual topics, find unexpected facts, tell them not through dates and a list of surnames, but through living stories. And they also explain how these stories affected us today," said Lesya Syrota, team leader of the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charity project, director of the OTP BANK retail business sales department and network management.
She noted that much more than the size of the payment denomination and elements of protection against counterfeiting are engraved in Ukrainian banknotes. In particular, she reminded that modern money depicts symbols or important artifacts of Ukrainian statehood that have played or are playing an important role in the country's history. Therefore, educational lectures will help to expand and supplement knowledge about different eras and how they are reflected in the present.
"UCulture is an innovative educational project about Ukrainian culture with a human face. Without excessive academicism, together with leading researchers we talk about the achievements and values of our culture from the most ancient times to the present day. The UCulture educational platform was created for students who want "live" information about Ukrainian culture, for teachers who are looking for relevant materials and teaching methods, for specialists in the field of culture who want to share their experience and knowledge, and for everyone who wants to learn more about Ukrainian culture," commented Larysa Dovha, head of the UCulture project.
All video materials created within the framework of cooperation will be available for free on the Bank's YouTube channel and on the UCulture website.
The UCulture educational platform was launched in March 2023. Its website contains both lectures on the development of Ukrainian culture from ancient times to the present, as well as interviews with leading experts.
