
How OTP BANK cares for the well-being of its employees: cashbacks, challenges, webinars, sessions with psychologists, and much more
Caring for employees is not just a modern trend — it is also essential for the overall performance of a team. That is why OTP BANK JSC has introduced a comprehensive program to support the physical and mental well-being of its employees. This was shared by Bohdan Shcherba, Head of the Compensation and Performance Management Department at OTP BANK, during the “Business VS Psychology” forum held in Kyiv. The event brought together business owners, top managers, HR professionals, and psychologists to discuss various ideas and solutions aimed at increasing profitability and fostering company development through employee care.
“OTP is not just a financial institution — it is an employer that systematically cares for the well-being of its people. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, we introduced sessions with a psychologist, laying the foundation for a culture of mental health. The full-scale invasion became a turning point that shifted our focus — we concentrated on safety, emotional support, and adaptation to new realities so that every employee could feel stability and protection during the most challenging times. We helped employees with relocation, organized payments, provided hotels and sanatoriums, and offered opportunities to move to relatively safe regions of Ukraine or abroad. It was a time of unity, mutual support, and faith in our collective strength. However, even then, the option of a corporate psychologist was not widely used. Therefore, in 2023, we decided to take a more comprehensive approach,” — shared Bohdan Shcherba during his speech at the forum.
In 2023, OTP BANK introduced a pharmacy cashback program for all employees, followed by additional initiatives aimed at meeting their holistic needs.
”Our team created a single ‘umbrella of care’ that combines mental and physical health, as well as healthy nutrition. We launched new formats — a series of articles, educational webinars, and regular challenges for colleagues, tailored to their interests. This approach helped us engage different employee groups in the wellness movement so that everyone could find something meaningful for themselves. The overall satisfaction level with the program is very high — 82%,” noted Bohdan Shcherba.
In 2025, OTP BANK relaunched its psychological support program for the third time — offering completely anonymous and free consultations with specialists. This year, the program received the highest number of requests and the most positive feedback so far. The initiative continues to operate successfully.
At OTP BANK, we believe that it is crucial to ask, listen, understand, and implement programs that reflect employees’ real needs. One of the key tools for this is regular employee surveys, as each person has their own experience, needs, and life circumstances.
“That’s why we continue to ask, listen, and hear — to create a work environment where everyone feels cared for and can unlock their full potential,” summarized Bohdan Shcherba.
