HR PRO Awards: OTP Bank Helps Ukraine project wins in the “Resilience and Charity” category

OTP BANK JSC won in the “Resilience and Charity” category of the annual HR PRO Awards with its charitable project OTP Bank Helps Ukraine. The official award ceremony took place on November 14 in Kyiv.

“OTP Bank Helps Ukraine is a unique charitable ecosystem that has united the Bank’s employees from all over Ukraine. Our community consists of 78 caring people, including branch network employees, various business lines, IT specialists, and top managers of the Bank. We have already directed more than 264 million hryvnias to support initiatives, implemented 50 charitable projects, and helped more than 36,000 Ukrainians,” said the team leader of the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine program, Director of the Retail Sales and Branch Network Management Department of OTP BANK Lesia Syrota, presenting the project during the panel discussion “Resilience and Charity.”

According to her, to be as effective as possible, the team focused its efforts on three areas: helping children, supporting the healthcare sector, and providing Ukrainian defenders with training models and elements that are crucial for saving lives.

The goal of OTP Bank Helps Ukraine is to help as many Ukrainians as possible by implementing long-term projects that bring real change and cover a wide range of beneficiaries. Among such initiatives are: support for the Superhumans Center, where more than 1,500 patients have received modern prosthetics; the summer OTP Kids Camp in Hungary, where 467 Ukrainian children have already spent their holidays since 2023; and the project “First Vyshyvankas,” through which 854 children from orphanages received their first embroidered shirt for Vyshyvanka Day.

The OTP Bank Helps Ukraine community has been implementing these programs for several consecutive years, turning them into long-standing good traditions. At the same time, the team never ignores urgent needs — from purchasing lifts for children with disabilities to providing special food, shoes, or clothing even for a small number of residents of specialized children’s institutions.

“We actively support the PrintArmy initiative: OTP BANK employees purchased 16 3D printers that are used daily to print training models and equipment elements for defenders. Every month, we donate for filament and organize charity events to involve clients in raising funds for raw materials. The amount of collected donations has already exceeded 16 million hryvnias. Together with the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, we launched a fundraising campaign aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capability,” added Lesia Syrota.

Recently, within OTP Bank Helps Ukraine, a long-term collaboration with the Khanenko Museum in the field of culture and art began. The partnership started with the restoration of the painting “Mediterranean Harbor with a Caravan of Merchants” by Flemish landscape artist Jan Baptist van der Meiren. The canvas, which had not been shown to visitors for more than 80 years, has been restored and is once again on display in the museum hall.

“We are constantly on the move — since the beginning of the project, not a single month has passed without good deeds. The OTP Bank Helps Ukraine community continues to grow, searching for new ways to engage colleagues, clients, and partners in charitable activities. OTP BANK IT specialists created a unique feature with no analogues yet in the Ukrainian financial sector — charitable auctions in the OTP Bank UA app. Thanks to this tool, more than 6 million hryvnias have been raised and directed to important programs,” emphasized L. Syrota.

It should be reminded that OTP Bank Helps Ukraine was founded in 2022. At first, the priority was supporting OTP BANK employees who lost their homes due to the full-scale invasion. Later, the project expanded: support was provided to internally displaced persons, medical equipment was purchased for military hospitals and clinics, assistance was offered to orphanages, and support was provided to children of fallen defenders. All programs are accompanied by public financial reports, photo reports, or stories of people who received support.
