OTP BANK handed to Okhmatdyt modern ophthalmic equipment worth more than UAH 1.1 mill
OTP BANK JSC purchased together with philanthropists modern equipment for the ophthalmology department of the consultative-diagnostic polyclinic of the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Ohmatdyt" (Kyiv), because the state of the existing one needed an urgent update. The transfer of equipment took place within the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine program.
“Today in conditions of war the need for diagnostics and treatment not only free but also conducted with use of modern equipment has increased. Only when these two conditions are fulfilled professional ophthalmologists diagnose the disease on time and can prevent the disease or establish a high-quality diagnosis and prescribe treatment, – noted team leader of the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charity project and director of retail sales and network management of OTP BANK Lesia Syrota. – That is why our Bank, together with philanthropists, collected more than UAH 1.1 million and, in accordance with the request of doctors, purchased important and valuable devices with these funds: biocular ophthalmoscope, automatic perimeter HVF-100, non-contact pneumotonometer (with pachymetry and PDA visualization) HUVITZ HNT-1P, ophthalmological tables, diagnostic lenses".
The equipment turned out to be so new that it requires additional knowledge from doctors - not only to work with it, but also to interpret the results. Therefore, training was organized for the entire medical staff of the department.
About 80% of the information about the world, we receive thanks to sight. That is why early diagnosis and timely treatment of ophthalmic diseases are so important in childhood.
To remind, this is not the first project implemented within the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charity program to modernize the ophthalmology department: the equipment purchased last November has already helped hundreds of patients. There are unique cases when with its help it was possible to diagnose complex diseases in children in time, and in the end to save their sight.
The National Children's Specialized Hospital "Ohmatdyt" is the largest children's hospital of Ukraine. It has more than 80 departments, serves more than 20,000 patients and performs about 10,000 operations per year.
