OTP BANK presented more than 200 embroidered shirts to children in orphanages to mark the 20th anniversary of World Vyshyvanka Day

OTP BANK JSC prepared special gifts for children living in Ukrainian orphanages, special schools, and family-type children’s homes: more than 200 traditional embroidered shirts, known as vyshyvankas, were purchased and presented to children in celebration of the holiday.

The total value of the initiative amounted to UAH 300,000. The vyshyvankas were donated to:

  • Ulyanivska Special School of the Sumy Regional Council;
  • “Zhyva Perlyna” mixed-type orphanage for preschool and school-age children;
  • the Medenko Family-Type Children’s Home;
  • the family-type children’s home of Yana Batiuk, an internally displaced person from Bilozerske, Donetsk region, currently residing in Cherkasy;
  • the family-type children’s home of the Alieksieienko family, internally displaced from Hornostaivka, Kherson region;
  • the Yatsenko Family-Type Children’s Home;
  • the Borodulin Family-Type Children’s Home;
  • the Antypchuk Family-Type Children’s Home;
  • the Haliliuk Family-Type Children’s Home;
  • SOS Children’s Villages in Brovary.

Children from the Antypchuk family-type children’s home personally visited OTP BANK. The family has 11 children — four boys and seven girls — all of whom relocated from Kramatorsk to the Kyiv region. During the visit, the children were given a tour of the bank branch, learned about the history of Vyshyvanka Day, and received coloring books and backpacks. The vyshyvankas were personally presented to the children by Volodymyr Mudryi, CEO of OTP BANK.

“The tradition of gifting embroidered shirts to children on World Vyshyvanka Day has existed at OTP BANK for the past three years. I believe it is one of our most inspiring initiatives. Vyshyvankas symbolize identity, ancestral memory, and cultural heritage. They are not just garments, but protective symbols woven into patterns. That is why this charitable project is one we are especially proud of,” said Lesia Syrota, Director of Retail Sales and Network Management at OTP BANK and team leader of the OTP Bank Helps Ukraine charitable program.

She has overseen the initiative annually since its launch. According to her, this year’s project was implemented with the support of OTP Bank Helps Ukraine’s long-term partner, the Blagomay Charitable Foundation, as well as SOS Children’s Villages.
