Ukrainian businesses increasingly invest in growth and energy independence, says Olha Volkova
Ukrainian companies are increasingly investing in energy independence and business expansion, supported by government-backed lending programs and cashback incentives for production modernization. This was stated by Olha Volkova, Director of Sales for Medium and Small Corporate Clients at OTP BANK JSC, in an interview with The Page.
“Our joint program with the EBRD provides clients with an additional opportunity to recover part of their investments in energy efficiency projects and modernization of agricultural machinery fleets, with cashback of up to 10%. Categories such as women entrepreneurs, young business owners, veterans, people with disabilities, and relocated enterprises can increase the cashback amount, depending on the complexity of the project, to as much as 30% of the financing provided. Since the program was launched, 255 OTP BANK’s clients have received cashback totaling €3.75 million,” Olha Volkova emphasized.
She noted that businesses can also receive reimbursement from the Ukrainian government covering 15% to 25% of the cost of machinery and equipment through the “Industrial Cashback” and “Made in Ukraine” programs, both of which OTP BANK participates in.
According to Olha Volkova, after a period of adapting to new economic realities, businesses are now focusing not only on maintaining operations but also on development and strengthening their competitiveness.
The banker also stressed that the quality of loan portfolios and a responsible approach to borrower assessment remain key factors today. Therefore, a company’s reputation and business transparency are crucial in a bank’s decision-making process when considering financing requests.
In addition, Olha Volkova highlighted the growing role of digital services in interactions between banks and their clients. Modern digital solutions enable businesses to access the financial services they need more quickly and significantly reduce the time required for credit approval procedures.
