Compliance and AI: how modern standards help businesses grow

Today, compliance is not only a tool for meeting regulatory requirements but also an important component of sustainable business development. When integrated into everyday business processes, it helps companies identify risks in a timely manner, ensure operational transparency, and strengthen trust among banks, investors, and international partners. This was highlighted by Ganna Gorbenko, Director of Compliance and Financial Monitoring at JSC OTP Bank and Chair of the Ukrainian Compliance Association, during her speech at the PRO-BUSINESS RENAISSANCE SUMMIT 2026.

For Ukrainian businesses, compliance is becoming particularly important when entering European markets, attracting financing, and participating in reconstruction projects. According to the speaker, partners today expect companies not only to declare principles of integrity but also to demonstrate them through transparent ownership structures, robust KYC and due diligence procedures, sanctions compliance, conflict-of-interest management, and appropriate responses to identified violations.

Special attention during the discussion was given to the use of artificial intelligence. Digital tools are already transforming the profession by helping specialists analyse large volumes of data more efficiently, identify unusual transactions and potential risks, conduct sanctions screening, and improve financial monitoring processes. However, final decisions should remain the responsibility of people who understand the context, evaluate potential consequences, and remain accountable for outcomes.

Ganna Gorbenko also emphasized the importance of professional dialogue between businesses, compliance officers, legal professionals, risk managers, and financial monitoring specialists. According to her, this exchange of practical experience is essential for shaping modern standards of operation and fostering a culture of integrity in Ukraine.
