More support for Ukrainian businesses' energy independence: OTP BANK outlines its plans for 2027

JSC OTP BANK intends to further expand financing for projects aimed at developing in-house power generation and strengthening the energy resilience of Ukrainian businesses in 2027. Responding to growing demand from companies, the Bank continues to rapidly enhance its lending terms, broaden its range of financial solutions, and develop project finance as a new line of business, said Ruslan Doroshenko, Head of energy products sales projects and programs at OTP BANK, during a roundtable discussion organized by Financial Club.

"We see significant potential both in supporting projects designed to cover companies' own energy needs and in working with businesses for which electricity generation is a separate business line. In addition to our existing lending instruments, the Bank has launched project finance solutions that allow us to work with a much broader range of business models. We are already applying this approach in practice and have financed energy projects that are currently under construction. These projects are being implemented by companies with proven expertise in power generation and electricity trading that require banking support to scale up their operations," Mr. Doroshenko noted.

OTP BANK provides financing for the purchase and installation of solar and wind power plants, energy storage systems, generators, gas turbine and gas piston power plants, cogeneration units, as well as other energy-efficient equipment. The Bank offers businesses a range of financing mechanisms designed to reduce budget pressure and ensure optimal terms based on the scale of each project. In particular, clients may take advantage of the government's Affordable Loans 5-7-9% Program, implemented by the Government of Ukraine at the initiative of the President of Ukraine through the Entrepreneurship Development Fund. Businesses can also benefit from grants of up to 30% of project costs under the EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line programme.

Additional opportunities are available through OTP BANK's joint partnership programmes with Ukrainian installation companies, which may offer a starting interest rate from 0.01% per annum for a specified period or other preferential terms. "Large corporate clients can also benefit from a dedicated state support programme in which OTP BANK participates. The programme enables businesses to attract financing ranging from UAH 100 million to UAH 1 billion at an annual interest rate of 12.5% for large-scale distributed generation projects," added the Head of Energy Products Sales Projects and Programs.

Under the current challenging circumstances, the development of distributed generation is critically important for Ukraine, as it concerns not only the energy independence of individual businesses but also the resilience of the country's energy system as a whole.
